#GMIC2015

GMIC Sustainable Meetings Conference

The Sustainable Meetings Conference (SMC), hosted annually by the Green Meeting Industry Council (GMIC), brings together professionals from all corners of the meetings and events industry — planners, suppliers, service providers, and destination representatives — around a single mission: transforming an industry by integrating sustainability into the entire life-cycle of event planning and execution.

The event is an opportunity to gain new tools, share best practices and transferable lessons, network with peers and leaders in the industry, and get inspired to continue your efforts alongside like-minded professionals in the community. We invite you to join us June 17-19, 2015 in Atlanta for three days of empowered learning.

Advance registration is now closed. The SMC Hospitality Desk opens at noon on Wednesday, June 17, for onsite registration.

Conference Deliverables:

The Four Pillars of the Sustainable Meetings Conference

Active Involvement

The conference is really about idea exchange and collaboration. Working together, we will hear from experts and then collaborate to find game changing solutions to drive sustainability as a core practice of the event industry.

Responsible Thinking

The Sustainable Meetings Conference will be the premier showcase for sustainable events in the industry. Working with a dedicated group of people that are being specifically trained to create the sustainability program for the event, all attendees will have the opportunity to participate directly in the implementation of the best practices for sustainable events.

Creative Setup

This is not your typical event setup where you are forced to sit all day. We will create working areas, integrate partners and exhibitors and food and beverage into the content space, and get you up and walking around to facilitate thinking and collaboration.

Local Inspiration

The City of Atlanta launched its Office of Sustainability in 2008 and has remained ahead of the game in its efforts to implement sustainable practices, including the Clean Air Campaign, Green Building ordinances, and development of parks and greenspace.
